Job Responsibility for Research Specialist – Contributing

The technician is a key player in our molecular laboratory, helping us solve scientific mysteries. They perform various experiments, like isolating proteins, DNA, and RNA, running gel electrophoresis, and using microscopy to study cells. They also help us with PCR and quantitative RT-PCR, ELISAs, immunoprecipitation, and western blotting. Plus, they’re involved in sample preparation for next-generation sequencing and mass spectrometry. (40%)

The technician is also responsible for breeding transgenic mice and keeping detailed records of their experiments. They’re like the mouse whisperers! They also help us create disease models by handling and injecting mice, measuring their health, and collecting tissues and cells for further analysis. (30%)

The technician keeps a detailed notebook of all their experiments and protocols, making sure they’re easy to understand for everyone involved. They also document their results and create figures for publication. (10%)

The technician is the lab’s superhero, making sure everything runs smoothly. They order supplies when needed, keep track of inventory, and make sure we have all the safety information we need. They also take care of equipment maintenance and keep our MSDS files up to date. (10%)
