The City Manager works closely with the City Council and is backed by a capable Executive Management Team. This is a fast-paced and demanding role, requiring someone ready to hit the ground running. Early on, the City Manager will team up with the City Council to set priorities for a long list of projects and take the lead in seeing them through.
The ideal candidate will bring a fresh perspective, thoroughly evaluate each City department, identify areas of strength and improvement, and recommend actionable solutions.
When it comes to fire protection, the City Manager must have a strong understanding of growing service-level expectations, the City’s strategic plan, and the critical need to focus on reducing risks and enhancing safety across the community.

Qualifications and Skills Required for City Manager Job:
- Experience: At least 5 to 7 years of progressive professional experience as a city manager or in a similar role within municipal, county, or state government organizations.
- Management Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience in managing governmental operations effectively.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in public administration, government, economics, business, or a related field is required. A Master’s or Doctoral degree in a related field is highly desirable.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong executive management abilities, coupled with excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate must be able to simplify complex issues and engage effectively with public officials, colleagues, and the community.
